Writer Notes: This chapter gives me chills.
Warnings: change in view, sorting out relationship messes, forgotten date, confrontation, a little language, and holy crap back out slowly.
It just happened. I went over there to talk to him like Sally and me had agreed a few months ago. And I don’t know.
It just happened.
“And has been happening since?” Sally asked. “So you two have been together for at least four months and you didn’t think to let anyone else know?”
“Is it anyone else’s business?” Sasha was quick to say.
“Well, it does make it less uncomfortable to walk-in on your friends if you at least know why they are in those…” she searched for an appropriate word. “…positions.”
Sasha had to give her that one. She never really expected Dewy and her “relationship” to gone on for months, but it had. They used each other when needed and that’s all it was to Sasha, sex.
“I don’t think you understand.” Sally said. “Dewy’s really…” she took a breath. “Dewy’s a fragile little puppy and if you hurt that little puppy, the whole neighborhood’s gonna turn on you.”
“What are you talking about?” Sasha shook her head. “Dewy knows exactly what we are together. So don’t worry.”
“Are you sure about that?” Sally had to ask. “Or is that what you think he thinks?”
Sasha sighed. “I’m sure Dewy’s a big boy and can tell the difference between a relationship and a relationship relationship.”
“I don’t know about that.” Kat finally said. “Dewy’s really never been together with anyone. I mean, there was that one girl for a couple of months, but…”
“But he was so obsessed with Kassidy that she left.” Sasha muttered. “Yeah, I know. This is different.”
“Yeah how?” Sally asked.
“We talk.” Sasha replied. “And I’m pretty sure he’s over the whole KL thing.”
“You hope.” Sally said.
“What does that mean?” Sasha asked then shook her head. “It doesn’t matter because Dewy and I are just fuck-buddies. He can daydream about KL all he wants. and I can still get what I want.”
“So it’s ok that he daydreams about KL when he’s with you?” Sally had to ask.
Sasha narrowed her eyes then smiled mischeviously. “I doubt he can even get a coherent enough thought past the pleasure when he’s with me.”
Sally shook her head.
“Shouldn’t you be more focused on yours and Jack’s date then me and Dewy?” Sasha then asked.
Sally’s eyes widened. “Holy shit, I forgot about that!”
“What-the-hell are you doing here, Toulouse?” Peppermint asked. “After all these months you think it’s all right to suddenly show up?”
“I mean, really?” she shook her head. “What you finally remembered that this isn’t just going away when you saw me at Sasha’s party?”
“Yes, I know!” he sighed. “I’m a screw up! God, I hate that everything went down like it did. And I’m sorry. I’m so frickin’ sorry. I don’t know what else to do, what to say.”
“I’m just…” he shook his head. “I want to be better. I want to be there for you and do right by you.”
“Do better…” Pmint muttered then her anger finally ignited. “Well, it’s too fucking late for that!”
“What-the-hell are you doing?” she asked as Toulouse went down on a knee.
